Fall Fun List 2018

Fall Fun List

There are finally signs of fall in the air which means it's time to start thinking about apple picking and pumpkin spice lattes! We want to help get you and your family excited about the change of season and the cozy days of togetherness ahead. So we've rounded up the best places to visit for apple & pumpkin picking, corn mazes, hay rides, and delectably fresh, fall treats. We've also included a list of upcoming fairs, festivals, and events in lower Fairfield County.

*You may notice that we've only shared events occurring from now until mid-October. Don't be scared (yet), the fun doesn't stop there! Our world famous (ha!) list of Halloween Happenings is coming to spook you and your little goblins very soon!*

Apple Picking, Pumpkin Patches, Corn Mazes, Hay Rides

Jones Family Farms, Shelton

Best Pumpkin Patch!

Enjoy roaming the pumpkin fields with your family to find the perfect jack-o-lantern for your house this Halloween! You can also take a hayride (open daily) and enjoy the views over scenic Pumpkinseed Hill. Get lost in the family-friendly corn maze (open on weekends)

Visit pigs and chickens in the farmyard, or head to the Market Yard which features children’s music playing near a small “stage” where children are invited to dance! You'll also find over 50 varieties of pumpkins, gourds and squash in every shape and size-- so many beautiful options for decorating! Be sure to take advantage of the many adorable photo opportunities throughout the market!

Silverman's Farm, Easton

Best Donuts!

September is an exciting month at the farm as they are in the thick of apple harvest time. With over 20 varieties available, apples are plentiful and ready to be picked! Once October arrives, enjoy the harvest season with their decorated pumpkin patch; full of 20 different varieties of fall squashes, gourds, straw bales, cornstalks, scarecrows and colorful mums for your decorating needs. Guess the weight of your pumpkin within two ounces and it’s free!

In both September and October, weekends are fun-filled with entertainment, food vendors, face painting and more. Check their special events page to see whats happening! The Animal Farm is always open and ready for visitors, too.

After fruit picking is over for the season, weekend tractor rides through the orchard begin! Enjoy the beautiful New England view-- on a clear day you are able to see Long Island! Lastly, don't leave the farm without stopping at the Country Market for some famous cider donuts!

Lyman Orchards, Middlefield

Best Corn Maze!

While you can pick your own apples (they have 12 varieties available) and search for the perfect pumpkin, you can't leave Lyman Orchard without making your way through their corn maze! With more than two miles of pathways through towering stalks, this maze earns a "perfect 10" (the theme to this year's maze is "the language of dance"). Stop by the Apple Barrel on your way out for fresh pies, apple cider donuts, muffins, cookies, breads, pastries, and more delectable desserts!

Beardsley's Cider Mill & Orchard, Shelton

Best Cider!

We can't stop drooling at the thought of what awaits us at Beardsley's Cider Mill & Orchard! You can stop in daily for peaches, pies, cider donuts, scones, fruit breads, and many more delicious treats at the Farm Bakery! Using a state-of-the-art system and apples that are blemished or too small, they make what we think is the best cider around. On weekends only, you can pick your own from thousands of dwarf apple trees. These trees only grow to a maximum of 10-12' for easy picking.

Blue Jay Orchards, Bethel

Blue Jay Orchards offers a ton of weekend fun for the entire family this fall! While visiting, you can pick your own apples (varieties changing weekly), walk through their adorable, easy to navigate pumpkin patch, and go for a scenic tractor ride. The Farm Market has a large selection of jams, jellies, sauces, fruit butters, baked goods, and of course apple cider and apple cider donuts fresh from their Bakery.

Sam Bridge Nursery, Greenwich

Sam Bridge offers free hay rides to their pumpkin patch on Fridays and Saturdays. But the fun doesn't stop there! Visit on Saturdays to participate in their 19th Annual Build-A-Scarecrow Workshop, or have fun painting your pumpkin!

Eden Farms, Stamford

Not only does Eden Farms have pigs, goats, and sheep for you to visit, but every weekend in October they really bring the fall fun! What more could your little one ask for than a hay ride, pumpkin patch, haunted house, maze and pony ride?!
