The 9th Annual Greenwich Reindeer Festival & Santa’s Village kicks off with the “We’re Back Party” at Sam Bridge Nursery & Greenhouses! The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to officially open Santa's Workshop will take place at 12:00pm with sponsors and various public officials in attendance. Photos with Santa begin immediately following the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Holiday Refreshments will be served! Face Painting provided by Faces by Wells and Balloon Artists! Everyone is invited! This party begins the month-long festival that offers tons of family fun until December 23rd. Santa, Live Reindeer, Winter Wonderland Carousel Rides, & North Pole Polar Express Train Rides. The town tradition continues for the ninth year! The Stamford Model Railroad Club’s annual holiday open house! The 74-year-old club’s 150’ x 50’ 0-Scale operating model train layout is one of the largest on the East Coast. Highly detailed scale model trains run through equally detailed city and countryside. Fully operational miniature trolleys also operate giving a glimpse into historic local travel. 1pm-5pm & 7pm-9pm. Downtown Rowayton will come alive with twinkling lights at the annual holiday town lighting. Festivities begin at Pinkney Park with caroling led by Brien McMahon’s award-winning Holiday Chamber Choir at 5pm and the lighting of the Christmas trees at dusk. Visit the Rowayton Historical Society Open House and ever popular train show (set in a miniature Rowayton) from 4:00-6:00pm in Pinkney House, and the RHS Holiday Bazaar in Pinkney Park until 7:00pm. Then stroll down Rowayton Avenue to view the window decorations created by local merchants, and enjoy a warm beverage and snack compliments of the Rowayton Market. 4:30pm. Event Website

It’s a special time to create together. Kids age 4 to 10 with a parent/caregiver will have a blast at our studio making 6 fun and functional pottery projects suitable for gift giving. Stew Leonard’s Norwalk store is kicking off the 2017 holiday season with its annual Christmas Tree Lighting celebration. The festivities include with plenty of musical entertainment and more to get the crowd into the spirit of the season! The annual Holiday Stroll has become a family favorite for New Canaan residents and those of our neighboring towns. Downtown New Canaan transforms into something out of a Dickens’s story book. Friday night kicks off with the arrival of Santa Claus, a lighting of the trees, carol singing, live entertainment while the stores stay open late and offer refreshments and holiday cheer. Saturday includes pictures with Santa at Santa’s workshop, characters roaming the streets, more live entertainment, a Gingerbread House Tour and much more. Come feel the magic of the holiday as Santa arrives on rooftop and comes down the chimney! Santa’s elves will be making a special appearance too! While you wait for Santa's arrival, children of any age can ride the animals, sip some hot cocoa, and listen to the DHS Tudor singers and Darien’s “Acabella” group sing holiday carols. Santa arrives as close as he can at 4:45pm depending on weather and wind. The Arthritis Foundation’s original Jingle Bell Run is the longest-standing festive race around, helping champion arthritis research and bringing people from all walks of life together to say "yes "to furthering a great cause. Get jolly for a reason and be there with bells on for the one in four Americans with arthritis! Bring your friends, family and co-workers to a fun-filled day of holiday cheer, where 100% of your registration fee and fundraising efforts go to charity. During the month of December, our "Go Fish!" exhibit is being transformed into Santa's Fishing Village! Guests will be able to take a photo with Santa Claus in his fishing boat. Shop, Dine and Be Merry as you stroll downtown Greenwich with family and friends to celebrate the 9th Annual Greenwich Holiday Stroll Weekend. Enjoy fun festivities for the whole family both Saturday and Sunday throughout downtown Greenwich. Over 101 participating merchants offering holiday promotions and refreshments. Westport’s Academy of Dance’s annual production of 'The Nutcracker' is one of the area’s most charming. Staged every December for the past 35 years, this professional production includes Academy students that are enrolled in our ballet program. Our Junior and Senior Company members dance the leads with the addition of professional male dancers in their appropriate roles. The Academy’s Nutcracker has become a Westport tradition that fills the holiday season with sweet treats, from tiny angels and brave soldiers to delicate dew drops and radiant sugar plums. Back by popular demand, our second annual Mother/Daughter Nutcracker Tea will be held at the beautiful DCA mansion, festively decked out for the holidays. A delicious menu, provided by Palmer’s Catering, will include traditional tea sandwiches, mini pastries, holiday cookies and assorted teas. For the children, festive sandwich cut-outs and raspberry lemonade will be served. From 22 stories high above Stamford Downtown, watch and cheer for Santa Claus, Rudolph, Grinch and guest rappeller Brian Cashman (GM of the New York Yankees) as they make their daredevil descent, twisting and flying from the top of one of Stamford’s tallest buildings, Landmark Square. Then follow Santa and friends up Bedford Street to Latham Park for an evening of holiday music with Cast Members from Saxe Middle School's "Aladdin Jr.". Santa will be making his annual visit to Rowayton aboard his big red fire engine sleigh! He will arrive at the Rowayton train station at 1:00pm and then make his rounds through Rowayton, stopping at streets throughout town. Children can also visit him at the Firehouse on Rowayton Avenue from 2:15-2:45pm. Members of the Rowayton Volunteer Fire Department will be collecting new toys for at-risk children in our area this holiday season. It’s that time of the year when the aromas of fresh baked goods fill the kitchen at Wakeman Town Farm, as our Jr. Chefs learn to bake holiday cookies, pies, bars and treats for holidays. Join us for our one-day holiday-inspired classes, and learn a few cool culinary tips and tricks along the way. Naturally, eating our creations is part of the fun. Santa joins the Aquarium’s dive team to demonstrate that sharks aren’t the blood-thirsty killers of myth. He'll strap on scuba gear and enter our 110,000-gallon “Ocean Beyond the Sound” exhibit as part of our regular program that lets guests see and talk with volunteer divers swimming in the exhibit. Santa will swim over to the exhibit window to pose for pictures so be sure to bring a camera! Workload permitting, Santa is expected to participate in most dives in December on Thursday, Saturday or Sunday. Westport's Wakeman Town Farm's Tree Lighting has local soul. We bring in student singers and musicians to provide a little festive holiday music, and we pour hot cocoa and serve cookies and stoke up the bonfire. As the sun goes down, we light the Wakeman Tree, a tradition for three generations of the Wakeman family. Come one, come all to this wonderful community event! 4:30pm. Event Website

This annual workshop is a fun-filled tradition that has been enjoyed for many years. After parents drop their children off at RAC, youngsters celebrate the holiday season and the coming of winter with other kids as they create cards, decorations, ornaments and gifts to take home. NEAD’s production of The Nutcracker flaunts some of the finest sets, costumes and talent in the area. The show, a Darien favorite since 2002, provides an appealing introduction to attending dance performances for the younger set. Children love getting into the holiday spirit by decorating gingerbread houses. The DCA and Palmer’s Catering have teamed up to make this easy for you! A freshly baked gingerbread house, icing, and all candies/decorating materials are supplied. The celebration starts with Rabbi Yehoshua Hecht of Beth Israel of Westport/Norwalk lighting an 18-foot menorah. Following the menorah lighting is a celebration complete with live music, holiday song and dance and complimentary Kosher refreshments and juice. Traditional dreidels and chocolate gelt will be distributed to all. Local dignitaries from Norwalk and Westport will be on hand to partake in Fairfield County’s largest menorah lighting celebration. 5pm. Event Website

A long-time popular event open to New Canaan residents ages 1-10 (a parent must be present). Children will enjoy breakfast treats of apple juice and donuts before meeting with Santa. Need some time to get your holiday shopping, wrapping, or cleaning done without your children in tow? Then let the YMCA staff entertain them for a few hours! Activities include: games, gym, arts & crafts, snack, lunch time (@ 12pm), and fun with friends! Ages 3-10; must be fully potty trained; bring your own lunch. 10am-4pm (sign up for any time slot). Connecticut Ballet’s holiday blockbuster and perennial audience favorite, ‘The Nutcracker' , returns to the Palace Theatre for four performances. The professional company will be joined by 85 local children from a dozen local dance schools and academies. Following each performance, ticket-holders may obtain auto-graphs or take photos with the guest artists in the lobby. In addition, audience members may be interested in visiting the Nutcracker Boutique. Dozens of holiday items from collectible nutcrackers to holiday ornaments, children’s books and souvenir posters are on sale before, during and after the performances. Join us for a festive holiday evening when—only once a year—costumed interpreters lead “candlelight” tours through Bush-Holley House, Greenwich’s only Registered National Historic Landmark. In addition to your family-friendly walk through Bush-Holley House, there will be live music, hot chocolate, seasonal treats from Sweet Lisa’s, winter-themed crafts for kids and a special appearance by Santa Claus from 5:30–6:30. Tours are about 45 minutes long and focus on Christmas traditions as celebrated by the Bush family in the early nation period and later by the Holley family, who were residents in the early 1900s during the Cos Cob art colony era. 5pm-7pm. Event Website

Mrs. Santa (aka Ms. Karen of Acting Out) is coming to town! She’s checked Santa’s list for naughty and nice and has a bag full of fun to give your holiday spice! Mrs. Santa is heartwarming and sweet. She is a wonderful treat that your family and friends will be cheerful to meet. Sing holiday songs, listen and enjoy ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas" with story boards. End the year – including a countdown to 12 o’clock … noon – with special family fun at the Aquarium! Join us for a day of activities geared for families with young children who want to celebrate the end of 2017 together, but not at the stroke of midnight. A disc jockey will provide the beat, as well as a countdown to 12 o’clock; 12 o’clock noon, that is.
