First there was the holiday break...then there were those snow days...then the stomach bug took over your household...and right as you began to finally settle back into some sort of a routine again: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is here! To help get everyone out of the house and doing something fun, we have compiled a list of local happenings for Monday, January 15th. Enjoy!

Vacation Day Camps

Earthplace, Westport: Enjoy a day off with fun & educational themed activities. Extended day options available! Ages 3-grade 5, 9-1pm or 9-3pm, Members $48-$72 & Non Members $64-$96. Register here!

Pump It Up, Norwalk: Kids spend part of their day laughing, jumping, playing games, and part of their time creating art projects. Extended day options available! 8:30-12:30, 12:30-4:30, or 8:30-4:30! $25 per single session or $40 for 2 sessions. Register here!

Tumble Jungle, Norwalk: Activities generally include trampoline time, zip-line rides, bounce houses galore, age appropriate games, themed activities, recreational sports, crafts, & more. 9-12pm, $45. Add on "Monkey Time" for $15! Register here!

Kids U, Stamford: Camp is an opportunity to sample everything Kids U has to offer with and emphasis on fun and friends! Snacks and drinks are provided. Ages 3-9, 12:30-3:30pm, $55/child & $50/sibling. Register here!

Chelsea Piers, Stamford: Little Athletes Gymnastics Camp supports each child's natural love of movement and exploration. A low camper-to-teacher ratio ensures personal attention and maximizes safety. Ages 3-5, 8:45-11:45am, Members $63 & Non Members $75. Register here!

Great Play, Stamford: Calling all Princesses and Pirates to join us for a special Treasure Hunt. Hundreds of years ago, a treasure chest was hidden in a castle on a deserted island... The Princesses and Pirates will look for the treasure in special games near a volcano, on the beach, in the jungle and more! If they are able to find the treasure chest in the castle, they'll get to bring some of the riches home! Ages 3-6, 12:30-3pm, Members $36 & Non Members $40.

Darien YMCA, Darien: Activities include swimming, arts & crafts, outside play, gym, movies, and more. 9am–1pm (pre-school only) or 9am-4pm (preschool to 5th grade). Stamford Museum & Nature Center "Build It, Make It", Stamford: Challenge yourself with a scavenger hunt in our winter exhibition, Gerberich's Gadgets: Best of Springs, Sprockets & Pulleys. Create with LEGO® bricks and recycled materials, build your own catapult, and make your own slime. At 2:30, join us on the meadow to build your favorite campfire treat – S'mores! Event runs 11am-3pm, Museum & Nature Center is open 9am-5pm, free with SM&NC admission.

Bruce Museum "Community Curation Family Day", Greenwich: Recommended for families with children under 10 years old, this special school-holiday program will feature art projects and live performances that help put in perspective Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy and teachings. Visitors can create a piece of artwork inspired by Dr. King’s values of compassion, love, courage, forgiveness, and community. At 11am & 1pm, singer/songwriter Cyd Slotoroff will lead an interactive performance for children to listen, move, & sing. Event runs 10am-4pm, Museum is open 10am-5pm, free with Museum admission.

Open Gym at YMCA, Darien: Child-sized equipment allows children to discover color, shape, and movement while developing imagination, coordination, balance, strength, flexibility & motor skills. Ages 1-5, 10:50-11:35am or 12-12:45pm, Members $10 & Non Members $15.

Monkey Time at Tumble Jungle, Norwalk: Drop off! Supervised open play that includes time in the gym, inflatable zone, and pizza to boot! Ages 3-5, 12:30-1:30pm or 5:30-6:30pm, $20.

Stepping Stones Museum for Children, Norwalk: Buy tickets online before 9am on the day of your visit and save $3/person! There are loads of activities taking place throughout the day (schedule here), including a "Spy Academy" and a special Martin Luther King, Jr. story time @ 1pm. Open 10am-5pm.

The Maritime Aquarium, Norwalk: Did you know there is a self-guided scavenger hunt that you can do while working your way through the exhibits at The Maritime Aquarium?! You can find it here! All regularly scheduled events will take place (schedule here) and don't forget to visit the Ocean Play Space (located upstairs)! Open 10am-5pm.

Art & Soul and the Bead Bar, New Canaan: Art & Soul is an inspiring and innovative studio where family and friends can gather in a creative and relaxing atmosphere to explore art. You can paint a pottery piece, create beaded jewelry, make a mosaic or explore glass fusing. Open 11am-5pm.

Little Athletes Zone at Chelsea Piers, Stamford: This indoor gym is specially designed for tiny athletes. The play space features a super-fun indoor exploration structure complete with tunnels, tubes, secret passageways, climbing areas, a slippery slide, & more. Come On Everybody, Darien: Storytime for everyone featuring a short picture book movie. All ages, 10-10:30am, FREE.

Story & Animal Program at Earthplace, Westport: Join your friends at Natureplace for an animal-themed story and an encounter with one of the Animal Hall residents! Afterwards, you have a chance to have Earthplace staff answer all your questions while giving some of the animals their daily meals. Ages 5 & under, 10-10:40am, Members Free & Non Members $5/child over 1, $7/adult.
