Gifts for the Birds: Family Workshop

Silvermine School of Art
Silvermine Arts Center

1037 Silvermine Rd
New Canaan, CT 06840

Participants learn about bird nesting habits and what they like to use for nesting materials, by creating containers/spheres out of willow branches or grape vines and twine.  Then once the “container” is stable enough to hold materials in we begin filling it with materials that the birds might like for their nest, including natural materials such as wool, denim, and cotton.  By the end of the workshop everyone will essentially have created a “gift for the birds” as they begin their nesting season in spring and look for materials to choose from.  We hope that they will choose a present from our vessels!
